How do I care for and clean my jewelry?
To clean all jewelry, you can use warm water and a mild dish soap. Make sure to dry thoroughly. To keep your jewelry sparkly and shiny, we recommend using the Sunshine polishing cloths regularly to gently remove makeup and oils from your pieces. Make sure to store your jewelry away from sunlight and humidity. These preventative steps will keep your jewelry lasting for years, if not decades.
What is gold-filled?
Gold-Filled is made by mechanically bonding gold to a base metal, generally high quality jewelers brass. The gold layer is much thicker than gold plated jewelry, making it more durable and long-lasting. Avoid exposure to perfume, lotions, hairspray and harsh chemicals, including pools and hot tubs. These pieces are ideal for daily wear.

Where is your jewelry made?
All of our pieces are handmade to order in Northern Virginia.
What is vermeil?
Vermeil is gold plated sterling silver. To protect plating from damage, avoid direct contact with moisture, colognes, lotions, hairspray and harsh chemicals. Always remove vermeil jewelry before showering or working out as moisture, salt and sweat accelerate oxidation.
How long will it take for my order to ship?
Each piece is handmade to order and typically ships within 3 business days, however please allow up to 7-10 business days.

Will my piece look exactly as pictured?
We try to capture the most accurate representation of our pieces. However, some glass varies in overall texture and color which we make note of in the listing. The many color and texture variations in glass is one of the reasons I love working with it so much!
How do I clean my piece?
Each piece comes cleaned and polished. A finishing wax is applied which seals the surface of the solder and helps slow oxidation. Care for stained glass by lightly dusting as needed. Over time the lead in solder can naturally dull and oxidize. If this happens, clean gently with a soft microfiber cloth. Never use a cleaning product containing ammonia (like Windex), as this can break down the solder. You can apply carnauba wax, let it dry to a haze and buff off. This will make your piece shine like new again! You can also clean your silver and black pieces with Pledge. Never use anything abrasive as this can ruin the metal finish.
Does my piece have a crack in it?
Most likely not. We package our glass very well and take pics before shipping. A lot of the glass we use has lines and bubbles in it which can sometimes be mistaken for a crack or poor quality glass. Actually I have found that the more character the glass has, the more expensive it is! Please message us at hemmingwaysspecialtyshoppe@gmail.com with any questions or concerns you may have.
How do I hang my piece?
We do not recommend using suction cups to hang your glass art. They can easily lose suction and cause your piece to fall and break. Make sure to hang securely from a nail or window lock.
When will my order ship?
Each piece is handmade to order. Most items will ship in 3-5 business days however, please allow 7-10 business days for some of our more intricate pieces.
