Some places stay with us long after we've left.
For me, they're tucked-away courtyards filled with the fragrance of tropical blooms, weathered stone pathways bathed in warm sunlight, turquoise waters, and days spent by the sea.
Hemmingway's Specialty Shoppe was born from a desire to preserve that feeling.
Named after our beloved rescue dog, Hemmingway, the shop began as a creative outlet inspired by the beauty, warmth, and quiet wonder found in places that stay with us long after we've returned home. Today it has grown into a thoughtfully curated collection of handcrafted jewelry and stained glass art, along with our signature dog bandanas, all designed in Virginia.
My own creative journey began long before Hemmingway's. After earning a degree in graphic design, I discovered stained glass at a small community studio and immediately fell in love with the way light transformed ordinary pieces of glass into something extraordinary. It reminded me that beauty is often found in the imperfect, and that even broken pieces can come together to tell a beautiful story.
Over time, that same appreciation for color, texture, light, and meaningful design naturally began to shape every piece I created. Whether working with stained glass, jewelry, or designing our signature dog bandanas, my approach has remained the same.
Today, I'm blessed to create alongside my husband, our daughter Isabelle, and our two rescue pups, Hemmingway and Jasmine. Their love and encouragement inspire this business every day and serve as a constant reminder that life's greatest gifts are often found in faith, second chances, and the simple moments shared with those we love.
